Manta Trust Hosts "An Evening with Focused on Nature" at the Natural History Museum to Celebrate World Manta Day 2024

In celebration of World Manta Day 2024, the Manta Trust and Focused on Nature hosted a captivating event themed ‘The Power of Storytelling’ at the iconic Natural History Museum in London. Held on the 17th of September, the evening was dedicated to raising awareness about manta ray conservation and the protection of marine ecosystems. Titled “An Evening with Focused on Nature and the Manta Trust,” the event united conservationists, wildlife enthusiasts, and supporters for an inspiring night of storytelling and impactful conservation efforts.

The highlight of the evening was a series of keynote presentations from renowned speakers. Prince Hussain Aga Khan, a distinguished photographer and environmental conservationist, shared his breathtaking photography and personal journey in manta ray conservation. Joining him was Steve Backshall, BAFTA award-winning wildlife expert, who delivered a powerful speech about the importance of marine conservation efforts to protect manta rays and other endangered species.

The event emphasised the crucial role that storytelling plays in driving conservation efforts. Manta Trust representatives opened the night, setting the stage for thought-provoking discussions on marine preservation. Following the keynote addresses, attendees participated in an engaging Q&A session, offering a chance to delve deeper into the personal experiences and insights of the guest speakers.

After the presentations, guests enjoyed a reception featuring a silent auction of fine art prints donated by Prince Hussain Aga Khan. The proceeds from the auction will directly support the Manta Trust’s ongoing research and conservation initiatives focused on protecting manta rays and their habitats worldwide.

This event underscored the vital collaboration between conservation organisations and cultural institutions like the Natural History Museum in raising awareness of the urgent need to safeguard our oceans and the species that inhabit them.
