COVID-19 Update

March 2020

During these strange and uncertain times, we want to let you know that the Manta Trust team are all healthy and doing well. Our Maldivian Manta Ray Project (MMRP) has been effected by reduced tourism and travel restrictions in the Maldives resulting in a number of our staff returning home during this quiet period. Unfortunately, our oceanic manta research project, which was meant to happen in March/April 2020, has been cancelled this year. The rest of our research teams around the world are focused on staying healthy, following local guidelines and working remotely as and where they can.

Our core operations team is a small team who regularly work remotely anyway, so for the most part this operation has been unaffected. We will be using this time to finish writing reports, clean up and analyse data, make progress with our IDtheManta platform, and develop our education resources to make them more accessible online.

Please stay safe, and act responsibly to slow and reduce the spread of Covid-19. That way we will protect lives and hopefully be back in the field studying our flappy friends sooner rather than later!

Thank you for your continued support during this period!
