Initiative Manta en Nouvelle-Calédonie

Established 2016.

Initiative Manta En Nouvelle Calédonie was set up to research the population of reef manta rays in the southwest Pacific islands of New Caledonia. Very little is known about the population, but the project has already started to collect lots of valuable data.

Manta rays are an important cultural species in New Caledonia and this project aims to share the knowledge and raise awareness about these mysterious creatures with the local communities.
